Weather Monitoring for UK Highways

Get early snow and ice detection for rapid deployment of maintenance crews and help reduce risks for road users.

Early warning is crucial to the management of risk of inclement weather in order to allow maintenance crews time to perform their essential duties and inform road users.

Ice sensor monitoring stationOur Hydro-Logic® Smart Monitoring system with the Sommer Ice Detection System IDS-20, can provide advanced warning to maintenance teams and the general public if required.

The system is able to distinguish between water and ice, so can detect when ice has formed and its thickness. It can also detect when the climate conditions are likely for ice to form or thaw.

Rainfall Monitoring

Hydro-Logic® Weather Monitoring StationRainfall intensity can also be monitored, along with water levels in nearby watercourses (including culverts), to create a fuller picture of road weather conditions and to help with future forecasting or modelling.

Hydro-Logic® Services provides rainfall monitoring to support clients for a variety of projects, including for flood warnings and water resource studies. Clients include Water companies, Local Authorities, Consultants and private industry.

The rain gauge equipment typically includes a tipping bucket rain gauge, or a ‘check gauge’ to achieve data collection to the British Standard BS7843. We advise on the most appropriate siting and set up and can include telemetry.

We are also able to deliver solutions for Flood Prevention, Pollution Prevention, and Flood Warning for UK Highways.
