Beef Processing Wastewater Solutions with Hydro MicroScreen

A large producer of deli meats in Southwestern Pennsylvania had a complex and expensive wastewater treatment system consisting of rotary drum screens and Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF). After treatment, effluent was discharged to the local sewer system. Facing ever increasing surcharge fees, the plant was looking for a better solution to reduce surcharge and eliminate the complexity of their treatment process on their roast beef processing line.

Plant wastewater had a relatively high BOD averaging 2,347 mg/L, and of this 34% was soluble BOD during the test period. The Hydro MicroScreen™ was tested at the plant in a side-by-side performance evaluation against their existing rotary screening and DAF system as an option to potentially replace both the screen and the DAF.
