Holiday Shoppers Contribute to Mall & Plaza Stormwater Pollution

If you’ve still got last-minute holiday shopping to do, there’s a good chance you’ll be driving by or stopping into malls, plazas or stores where Hydro International has BMP installations.  In general, but especially around the holidays, shopping plazas are among the dirtiest stormwater sites in the country and collect significantly more trash and hydrocarbons (mostly from vehicles) than other site-types. That's why frequent BMP maintenance on these sites is so important.

If you’re an engineer in the process of specifying treatment systems in retail plazas this winter, be sure to let the end user know about their maintenance responsibility and inform them that they can get an inspection quote by emailing services@hydro-int.com. Hydro maintains all treatment system types including separators, filters, catch basins, LID systems and more.

Hydro International has stormwater separator, filter and flow control valves installed in and near the following retail stores:

  • Toys R Us
  • Best Buy
  • Walmart
  • Home Depot
  • Target
  • Walgreens
  • Costco
  • Kohl’s
  • BJ’s
  • Dick’s Sporting Goods
  • Bed Bath & Beyond
  • Sam’s Club
  • Jared Galleria of Jewelry
  • Cabela’s
  • CVS
